THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULLY BOOKED. APOLOGIES FOR ANY DISAPPOINTMENT.
Do you find it hard to relax or unwind? Or to cultivate the energy and motivation needed to create the change you desire?
Are you familiar with your own nervous system? Can you identify which nervous system state you are in, or the true needs of your mind/body?
This offering from Alexandra Rodrigues is an experiential workshop introducing Body Psychotherapy and the Vasomotoric Cycle, to explore nervous system health and the mind/body connection.
Humans are inherently psychosomatic beings. The mind/body is inseparable.
In Body Psychotherapy our ‘Soma’ - the vessel of our being - is understood to be a manifestation of the unconscious. Our body harbours emotions & truths that our psyche cannot endure to sense or acknowledge.
This results in the creation of ‘body armouring’. Body armouring represses unwanted feelings and is often created to manage stress and overwhelm, or traumatic experiences. It is the point where our biology meets our psychology and patterns of tension/defence become fixed in the body and nervous system.
This is why moving our bodies and breathing in yoga can evoke memories and emotions to surface, but we can be left feeling unsure how to process them.
The Vasomotoric Cycle is a concept rooted in Wilhelm Reich’s formulation of the tension-charge-discharge-relaxation/integration cycle. This cycle is mediated by the autonomic nervous system. During this extended worksop we will explore the Vasomotoric Cycle, and finish with a restorative yoga sequence allowing plenty of time for integration & reflection.
Expect to establish a deeper connection with one’s own essence through this experiential workshop that you can carry with you into your life, relationships, creativity & work.
