The need for Yin Yoga teacher training
For several decades western society has suffered from a crisis of dis-ease stemming from our overly yang lifestyles. As far back as 2002 Paul Grilley observed that “life should be a balance between competition and compassion; between ambition and contentment, but this balance has been lost. An over-emphasis on yang qualities has polluted the planet, split our families, and emptied our homes while both parents work to get ahead or just to stay afloat.”
In 2024 that sentiment rings truer than ever. The drive to ‘advance’ or ‘succeed’ has led to a regression in our quality of life as measured by factors such as genuine social connection, community, mental health and our overall sense of wellbeing. And in the current global economic and geopolitical climate, the outlook for 2025 is even more somber. We are going to need all the tools at our disposal to remain grounded and centered in our compassionate hearts.
If you are already a yoga teacher, you have an important role to play in supporting your students through turbulent times. If you are a student of yoga, you probably already recognise the value that this ancient practice brings to maintaining your physical and mental health when the going gets tough. And in either case, you may wish to deepen your skills and knowledge in therapeutic yoga modalities to help support yourself and others through personal or global challenges ahead.
What does Yin Yoga teacher training involve?
Yin Yoga teacher training offers a transformative healing journey restoring balance to our overly yang lifestyles. Our 50-hour Yin Yoga teacher training is a deep exploration of the modern practice of Yin Yoga – derived from the ancient traditions of Hatha Yoga from India and Doaism from China, plus Western anatomy & neuroscience. You will learn the mindful practice of Yin Yoga as a modality for improving flexibility & mobility, enhancing the flow of Chi (energy) for optimum health, and dissolving stress that accumulates in the body.
Our Yin YTT curriculum includes Yin Yoga history & philosophy; the benefits of Yin Yoga on the physical, energetic and mental/emotional bodies; anatomy & physiology relative to Yin Yoga; an introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine; Yin Yoga poses for the 5 elements; and how to practice & teach Yin Yoga safely and effectively. You will deepen your personal Yin Yoga practice and enjoy putting your new teaching skills and knowledge into practice in our face-to-face small group setting.
